Shake things up this Valentine's week by trading the typical romantic comedy for 10 short films. Cincinnati World Cinema presents the 5th annual
Lunafest Film Festival this Tuesday at the Carnegie Arts Center. The festival features 10 short films depicting the lives, families and universal issues faced by the filmmakers. The ten
Lunafest winners come from all around the globe and all walks of life, bringing us films that represent a multitude of nationalities and ethnicities. Films include live action and animation in the genres of drama, comedy and documentary. Come a little early for the 6:30 p.m. Social Hour hosted by Women Writing for a Change, and stay a little late for a discussion after the film. Tickets are $8.00 in advance and $10.00 at the door, and don't worry if you can't make the Tuesday screening because the program repeats Wednesday evening. So grab your guy or girl and get down to Lunafest for the chance to see inspiring films made by women filmmakers, for women and the men who care about them - doesn't get much more romantic than that. Duty Free FriendsFebruary 10A lot of great things are imported: beer, wine, cheese and people to name a few. But unlike beers and cheese, which are automatically packaged together, people stand alone. So even though Cincinnati is a great place to live, it can be hard to make friends when you're new to a city, something
Cincinnati Imports has been working to ease. A group that brings non-Cincinnatians together is celebrating its
One Year Anniversarywith a Happy Hour. Join Cincinnati Imports' founders and other local transplants from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. this Wednesday at the place where the group's first event took place, Oakley Pub. Little Red HeartFebruary 13The theme for the month of February seems to be hearts. First there's Valentine's Day with all the candy hearts, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, big stuffed teddy bears holding hearts and so on. Then there's the matter of the actual heart, as February is the American Heart Association's American Heart Month. Thousands of volunteers visit their neighbors with the goal to raise funds for research and education and share information about heart disease. So there's really no better way to celebrate the candy hearts of V-Day and a healthy, beating heart than by combining them for a party, the
Little Red Dress Party to be exact. Q102-FM invites you to the Redmoor this Saturday night for the Little Red Dress Party to benefit the
American Heart Association and Go Red for Women. The party starts at 8:00 p.m. and will feature music by the Naked Karate Girls. So grab your sweetie, your group of girls, whoever, and slip into a little red dress for a heart-pounding good time and a great cause. Admission is $15.00 at the door.
