PWC receives generous Hamilton Community Foundation grant

The Hamilton Community Foundation, the largest community foundation in Butler County, offers five opportunities a year for local nonprofit organizations to apply for unrestricted community grants. To close out 2018, the foundation awarded a $30,000 grant to People Working Cooperatively (PWC), which will use the funds to specifically support home modifications and repairs in Hamilton, Ohio.

People Working Cooperatively provides home repairs and services to low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners in the community who face illness, disability, and more, and do not have the resources to keep their home safe and habitable.

Each donation received, according to Chris Owens, vice president of development for PWC, goes directly to helping residents stay safely in their homes.

“We’re so grateful for the support of the Hamilton Community Foundation, and the opportunity to make a greater impact for low-income and elderly homeowners and people with disabilities in the city of Hamilton,” says Owens. “It’s through partnerships with organizations like the Hamilton Community Foundation that we’re able to help keep these neighbors in need safe in their homes, where they truly want to be.”

The nonprofit organization serves 20 counties of Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Indiana. By delivering these services to more than 10,000 clients annually, the organization has become a local staple and regional leader in providing professional home repairs and services to those in need. And for some, it is the only resource they have.

While services vary depending on location, PWC assesses all the needs of the home and determines which services they can help provide to a client. They offer modification for mobility services (such as ramps and lifts), home repair services, and energy conservation (or weatherization).

Clients qualify based on their income level, where they live, and what type of services they need. The average PWC client earns less than $13,500 a year, and other income guidelines apply to each service specifically.
