At NuVo Technologies, it's all about the music. Bringing high-quality digital sound to living environments and creating the "music-enabled home" is what this Hebron, Ky.-based company does.
NuVo engineers, manufactures and sells multi-room digital audio distribution systems. NuVo is regarded as an innovator in the consumer electronics industry. In 2007, it introduced the first multi-room audio system to earn an Energy Star award for energy efficiency. This year, it previewed a technology that is expected to become the first multi-room audio system to use a home’s existing electrical system to distribute music, enabling installers to bring multi-room audio to existing homes without the need to cut and patch holes in drywall to pull wires.
NuVo’s origins date to 1924, with the founding of the Davitt & Hanser Music Co. That company grew into the Hanser Music Group , a manufacturer and distributor of all things music, from instruments to amplifiers. In 1989, HMG acquired Kustom, a well-known name in music amplification, engineering and manufacturing. A couple years later, Kustom introduced the first integrated multi-room audio system to the consumer market. HMG launched NuVo Technologies in 2002 as the new brand name of Kustom Home Sound.
NuVo’s sister companies, whose products are used and endorsed by celebrated musicians, are influential on the company, sharing its new Hebron facility and promoting the cross-pollination of ideas. Growth has been rapid: in 2007, NuVo’s domestic revenues grew by 50 percent and its international revenues grew by 97 percent. It was recently named to the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce's Emerging 30 list of that region's fastest-growing companies for the third straight year.
