Two alums of Cincinnati TV station WKRC-TV (Channel 12) came together and started a video production studio eight years ago and were joined by two more station alums a few years back. They called their venture I & Eye Productions and it's become one of the fastest-growing private companies in Greater Cincinnati. I and Eye develops creative video, film and multimedia productions, including radio and television commercials. In Cincinnati, it's developed and produced spots for Champion Windows, Xavier University and Penn Station, among others. Other clients include Clear Channel Communications, Holland Advertising and TV station Fox 19. Revenue has jumped 150 percent in three years, says co-owner David Striet. Striet's partners are Bob Igoe, Tony Agliata and Kraig Haplea, all of whom worked at Channel 12 together years ago and came together as I & Eye productions.
The firm's growth has been spurred by keeping overhead low, and adjusting to meet the changing technological needs of its clients, Striet says. I & Eye recently added a fourth editing suite specializing in local broadcast commercials, upgraded its main editing suite to high-definition and added a production studio complete with grip and lighting gear available for its shoots as well as rentals.
