Cincinnati Museum Center establishing DNA lab
The Cincinnati Museum Center is establishing a state-of-the-art DNA laboratory with the help of the National Science Foundation, the Business Courier reports.The lab, centered on a nearly $85,000 DNA sequencer, can use molecular genetics for applications such as identifying a case of West Nile Virus in a blood sample or studying the evolutionary relationship between species.The zoology curator at the Cincinnati Museum Center says that the lab will be made available to smaller institutions that might not have access to similar equipment.Xavier University, Cincinnati Zoo, Cincinnati Country Day School and Thomas More College expect to use the lab.Read the full article here.
