With the $80 billion allotted to rail infrastructure under President Biden’s American Jobs Plan, Amtrak plans to expand their current rail grid in what they are calling a “Connect US” plan.

The plan aims to add more than 30 routes, increase Amtrak ridership by 20 million people by 2035 to tackle the climate crisis, and reach underserved communities. The expansions would create a more connected country, benefiting mid-sized cities like the proposed route that would connect Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Columbus, which would allow them to share their economic growth by making leisure travel and commuting easier.
