Although the perception is that lending is tight, Cincinnati’s venture capital funds continue to pump money into the economy.

River Cities Capital Funds has completed five deals in the last couple of months, and Blue Chip Venture Company, the city’s oldest and largest venture capital firm, has invested $10 million in 12 companies so far this year.

Triathlon Medical Ventures Fund, which funds life sciences companies, has completed five deals this year and has three more in the works.

Writer Steve Watkins explains that because there are fewer national investors with spare cash, and entrepreneur demand is still high, well-capitalized venture capital funds in the Cincinnati area have had less competition connecting with companies.
