Ken Landon Buck | Serpent Mound: Observations of the Seen and the Unseen
Presented by Studio Kroner at Studio Kroner Cincinnati, OH
Serpent Mound: Observations of the Seen, the Unseen, the Mystical, and the Reverent presents a body of work developed through Ken Landon Buck’s repeated visits to Serpent Mound over a three-year period. Quietly observing ceremonies marked by prayer, song, movement, and communal ritual, Buck translated these experiences into layered compositions in pastel, watercolor, and gouache. The exhibition explores themes of reverence, memory, spirituality, and presence, offering viewers a contemplative space shaped by sustained observation and deep respect for one of Ohio’s most sacred cultural landscapes. Opening Reception: Thursday, June 4 | 6–9 pmArtist Talk: Saturday, June 13 | 1–2 pmClosing Reception: Saturday, June 27 | 1–4 pm At Studio Kroner, Cincinnati, Ohio. The body isn’t a battery that discharges upon death
Presented by The Carnegie at The Carnegie Covington, KY
Artists: Manami Ishimura, Ian Hersko, Justin Hodges, Jesse Ly, Natalie Lerner and Plume Girl. Set along the Ohio–Kentucky seam, The body isn’t a battery that discharges upon death gathers works attentive to material residue and afterimages. Each piece is an instrument tuned to a minor key that uses monochrome, drone, and repetition to ground the senses. Moving slowly through The Carnegie, visitors encounter extradimensional traces and haunts, but also budding timelines. As the exhibition opens, spring returns to the Ohio River. Honeysuckle reanimates along mortar lines; herons and egrets come back; winter’s grief loosens, settling into compost and feeding the cycle again. There’s a gothic comfort in certain inevitabilities. Presented by The Annex GalleryProgramming supported by 12 Paws Pickle Ball Club. This project is supported by the generosity of tens of thousands of contributors to the annual ArtsWave Campaign, the Cincinnati region's primary source for arts funding. FotoFocus Exhibition: Big Tent
Presented by FotoFocus at FotoFocus Center Cincinnati, OH
The FotoFocus Center is open Thursday and Friday 11am–6pm, and Saturday 11am–5pm, excluding holidays. Please confirm current open hours on the website. Big Tent, the inaugural exhibition at FotoFocus Center, reflects the spirit of the nation and the ideals of FotoFocus, each founded on principles of democracy, creativity, experimentation, and clear-eyed realism. Featuring a diverse ensemble of artists from FotoFocus’ past and future, Big Tent examines the ever-changing nature of American public life within a building created specifically for personal reflection and collective exchange. America is a “big tent,” a place where a broad range of perspectives coexist under one roof. Once a literal tent where grassroots organizing occurred spontaneously across all corners of the nation, the big tent now ascends to metaphor—an impromptu caucus contributing to democracy. Big Tent is inspired in part by a poem by Amanda Gorman, “In This Place (An American Lyric),” written during her time as National Youth Poet Laureate in 2017. Following Gorman’s poem, the exhibition moves through various cities across the United States, where readers encounter book “collections burned and reborn twice,” Confederate statues and protestors “like a meadow of resistance,” the “sleeping giant of Lake Michigan,” cows and floodwaters, and “black and brown students,” culminating in a celebration of the diversity of the American populace.
