Explore all of the installations that will be on display at Elm Street Plaza during BLINK! String Theory for Dummies 2.0 by Daniel Shields This installation will use fluorescent acrylic yarn with UV light and UV lasers to create vibrant effects that trick the senses. Some woven installations are visitor-created, where yarn balls are provided and anyone can add their own elements, creating a truly democratic experience where signs read “please touch the art.” Like people and the relationships between them, yarn is seemingly fragile but can be stretched thin and made to endure a tremendous amount of stress without breaking – but there is a limit to everything, and strength in numbers. Blending projection mapping, installation art, mixed media, and paper collage, Fogle transforms the gallery into an immersive landscape of color, pattern, light, and layered imagery. TEST PATTERNS: Living in Technicolor explores the ways we experience and construct our visual world, inviting viewers to move through an environment where static and projected forms collide, overlap, and shift. At the heart of the exhibition is a tension between the digital and the analog. Projected light and digital imagery meet intricate, tangible objects painstakingly constructed by hand. Paper is cut, layered, assembled, and transformed through a physical process that embraces the time, touch, imperfection, and human presence embedded in handmade work. In an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and images generated at the speed of a prompt, Fogle’s handmade pieces offer a counterpoint: a reminder of the value of making something slowly, physically, and deliberately. The work considers what happens when technology and human labor occupy the same space—not as opposites, but as competing and complementary ways of creating, seeing, and experiencing an image. Drawing from the visual language of color bars, calibration screens, graphic patterns, and digital signals, TEST PATTERNS: Living in Technicolor reimagines these familiar technological forms through a distinctly human lens. During BLINK 2026, The Mercantile Immersive features Harper Alive, an unparalleled spectacle of animation and music showcasing the story and life’s work of Charley and Edie Harper. Created in partnership with the Charley and Edie Harper Foundation and exclusively in alignment with BLINK, Harper Alive uses immersive media, motion, music and storytelling to invite guests inside the distinctive creative world of two of Cincinnati’s most beloved artists. The self-guided experience begins with a series of vignettes exploring Charley and Edie Harper’s artistic partnership, their individual perspectives and the influence they had on one another’s work. From there, guests enter a six-minute immersive experience that surrounds them with animated interpretations of the Harpers’ familiar imagery set to music. The experience will loop continuously during public hours, allowing guests to enter at any point and experience the full visual journey. Free Tours During BLINK
Presented by Mother of God Church at Mother of God Church Covington, KY
It will be illuminated each evening, from 7 to 11 PM, on Thursday thru Sunday, Oct 8 to 11. During this time, Mother of God Church will be offering free tours of the interior. During the day, the stained-glass windows dominate, and visitors overlook the other artwork which has decorated the church since the 1860s. It’s a totally different atmosphere. Additionally, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Meg Booker, the church organist, will play the organ from 7 to 7:20 PM and 9 to 9:20 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear music and experience the beauty of Mother of God Church. Photos of the church and the church guidebook will available for sale every evening. Yayoi Kusama: All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins

The exhibition will be free for members and nonmembers every Thursday evening from 5–8 p.m. and on Friday, July 31, August 28, and September 25, from 5–9 p.m. during Art After Dark. Tickets must also be reserved online in advance for free entry times. Yayoi Kusama: All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins (2016) features an array of yellow gourds of various sizes, adorned with black polka dots, that are surrounded by mirrors. The result is an immersive installation that allows the visitor to become part of the artwork as they seemingly enter an infinite field of glowing pumpkins. All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins illustrates Kusama’s characteristic themes, including infinity, the sublime, and obsessive repetition. The artist has described the pumpkin—one of her quintessential symbols—as a form of self-portraiture. A rare assemblage of a dozen Pumpkin acrylic paintings on canvas made between 1990-2004 will also greet gallery visitors, courtesy of the Masterworks Foundation. Kusama’s career spans more than seven decades, and her Infinity Mirror Rooms are some of her most experimental and iconic works, often incorporating a variety of illuminated objects.
