Linling Lu: Wild Bergamot
Presented by BasketShop Gallery at Basketshop Cincinnati, OH
For her show at BasketShop, Lu reflects on the seasonal change from Winter to Spring by referencing Wild Bergamot, a specific type of flower native to this region. Apart from her widely known paintings that meditate on musical compositions with her Melody series of mandalas, Lu has an accompanying practice of variations that roots her experience of the natural world through gardening. Wild Bergamot is a resilient part of Spring’s panoply of colors, thriving in poorer soils, attracting many insects and acting as a tincture for minor ailments. Lu’s engagement with gardening as a parallel practice situates color not merely as a formal concern but as a lived, seasonal, and materially grounded experience. Color becomes a relational phenomenon shaped by climate, growth cycles, and embodied observation rather than a purely optical or theoretical construct. Lu received a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and an MFA from LeRoy E. Hoffberger School of Painting, MICA. Her work has been exhibited at The Phillips Collection, the Walters Art Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, The Delaware Contemporary, the Delaware Art Museum, the American University Museum, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Kohl Gallery at Washington College, Towson University’s Center for the Arts, and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Lu’s artworks are in the permanent collections of The Phillips Collection, the Baltimore Museum of Art, Johns Hopkins University, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Microsoft, Louis Vuitton, Capital One, Accenture, City Center DC, 1700 Broadway…

Rembrandt: Masterpieces in Black and White
Presented by Taft Museum of Art at Taft Museum of Art Cincinnati, OH
The innovation, creativity, and influence of Rembrandt (Dutch, 1606–1669) are evident not only in his paintings but also in the more than 300 etchings he made during his career. At a time when most saw etching primarily as a vehicle to reproduce famous works of art, Rembrandt utilized the medium to create groundbreaking compositions. Filled with delicate lines and velvety shadows, his etchings often achieve the psychological intensity of his oil paintings. Nearly fifty works in Rembrandt: Masterpieces in Black and White present the depth and breadth of Rembrandt’s etching subjects, including portraits, self-portraits, scenes from daily life, landscapes, narrative scenes, and still lifes. A select group of etchings by Rembrandt’s contemporaries, as well as later admirers including James McNeill Whistler and Pablo Picasso, demonstrate the Dutch master’s enduring influence. Organized by the American Federation of Arts, this exhibition shares rarely seen etchings collected by the Rembrandt House Museum, the artist’s former home and studio in Amsterdam. This project is supported by the generosity of tens of thousands of contributors to the annual ArtsWave Campaign, the Cincinnati region's primary source for arts funding. Longing: Painting from the Pahari Kingdoms of the Northwest Himalayas
Presented by Cincinnati Art Museum at Cincinnati Art Museum Cincinnati, OH
Featuring more than 40 works of art, Longing: Painting from the Pahari Kingdoms of the Northwest Himalayas will present colorful court paintings from present-day India dating between the 17th and 19th centuries. Practicing unique techniques, artists produced these small, portable paintings primarily for royal, noble and priestly patronage. The paintings were often given as gifts between regional nobility, families and political allies creating large networks of artistic exchange. Longing will be on view February 6–June 7, 2026, at the Cincinnati Art Museum (CAM). Organized thematically, the exhibition encourages visitors to experience art as multisensory. Select paintings will be paired with scent or touch opportunities, while others are paired with musical soundscapes, to heighten the works’ bhava (emotion or mood) and encourage multiple ways to physically, intellectually and emotionally connect with the art. Influenced by the region’s culture and politics, the artworks portray longing in several ways, including through paintings of devotees who long to connect with the divine, individuals and couples who yearn for romance and rulers and noblemen who longed to be at the center of political control This calendar listing is brought to you by Cincy A&E, the Cincinnati region's one-stop, online calendar for arts and entertainment events, powered by ArtsWave.

Treasures From the Attic: 250 Years of Fashion & Furniture
Presented by Behringer-Crawford Museum at Behringer-Crawford Museum Covington, KY
Every chair holds the memory of those who sat in it and every garment bears the imprint of the person who wore it. These ordinary objects quietly document how people lived, worked and expressed themselves. Beginning February 14, 2026, visitors can trace these hidden histories in Treasures From the Attic: 250 Years of Fashion & Furniture, on display at Behringer-Crawford Museum through August 9, 2026. Developed in collaboration with Northern Kentucky University’s Public History Program, the exhibition gives students hands-on museum experience while supporting BCM’s collections, education and exhibition work. “The relationship between these students and the museum is invaluable,” said Dr. Brian Hackett, Associate Professor of History at Northern Kentucky University. “Public history students gain real-world experience in collections care, education and exhibition development, while the museum benefits from the energy and skills of emerging professionals. It’s a partnership that strengthens both institutions and serves the community.” Part of the national America 250 commemoration, Treasures From the Attic invites guests to explore how furniture and fashion can serve as windows into the past. Constructed from regional woods or imported textiles, crafted by hand or guided by machinery, used in parlors, bedrooms, factories or fields, these everyday objects reveal innovation, craftsmanship, resilience and changing cultural values across two and a half centuries. Visitors will have the opportunity to slow down and “read” furniture and clothing by looking for clues: tool marks and joinery, screw heads and veneers, seam finishes and fabric choices, silhouettes and construction techniques. These small details offer…
