The Rooftop Sessions: Chandler Carter

Chandler has the ability to captivate an audience with just her voice and a guitar. With her names in line-ups next to today’s top artists, she’s Ohio’s next rising star. Keeping it simple and honest, there’s no limitation to what she can do next. Here’s what Chandler said about how she got started: “I discovered I could sing one day while messing around on GarageBand on my sister’s laptop. She was out at the movies and had no idea, but it was my favorite thing to do in middle school! I recorded my first professional song in 2011 as a junior in high school. I got the confidence to do so because I auditioned for The Voice and made it past the first few audition rounds, so it gave me the confidence I needed to give music a go. UNDERSCORE: The Afrofuturist Salon

Style, Sound, and the World of Lalovavi. Step into the vibrant universe of Lalovavi, Cincinnati Opera’s bold, new Afrofuturist opera, during an elevated after-work evening of hair, art, music, and creative expression at Artsville. The Afrofuturist Salon brings together cultural innovators, creative voices, and curious minds for cocktails, connection, and conversation inspired by Afrofuturism and the power of hair, style, identity, storytelling, and legacy. The evening features a dynamic live conversation with Lalovavi librettist Tifara Brown, wig designer Tiara Jones, loctician and makeup artist Shabrina Monét, and Cassandra Jones, UC Assistant Professor of Africana Studies, exploring the intersections of Black futurism, beauty, storytelling, and self-expression. From One to Another
