Becoming Ancestors
Presented by Kennedy Heights Arts Center at Kennedy Heights Arts Center Lindner Annex Cincinnati, OH
Becoming Ancestors is a loud, high-frequency love letter to our ancestors—past and future—delivered through rhythm. Every step we take as a community stands on the shoulders of those who sacrificed deeply, often at the cost of their own well-being. As a Black diaspora, we continue to redefine ourselves, shaping the change we wish to see from within. African drums, Hip-Hop, House, and electronic vibrations converge to channel what is needed in this present moment. It may be revolutionary. It may be meditative. Whatever form it takes, it is fully intentional. Featuring preformances by Mowosi, No.Clue, Grandace and Gyata African Drum and Dance, curated by Alexander Stallings. This performance is part of the Voices of Freedom series presented by Kennedy Heights Arts Center in partnership with Juneteenth Cincinnati, made possible by a Circle grant from ArtsWave. This event will take place at the Kennedy Heights Arts Center Lindner Annex, located at 6620 Montgomery Road.
