In Appalachian Songcatcher, Hannah Sage From blends banjo tunes, traditional songs, and original music with personal storytelling to share a coming-of-age journey growing up queer in rural North Georgia. Join public historian and author Jacob Hogue on Friday, June 5th from 4-6pm for a special author talk and book signing for his debut book, Cincinnati Before Stonewall: The Untold Queer History of the Queen City. In this engaging presentation, Hogue explores the hidden LGBTQ+ history of Cincinnati, uncovering remarkable stories of community, resistance, scandal, and resilience long before the modern gay rights movement. Drawing from years of archival research, historic newspapers, court records, and personal accounts, Cincinnati Before Stonewall reveals a vibrant and often overlooked queer past stretching from the nineteenth century through the mid-twentieth century. This event will take place the Cincinnati Story Center, located on the second floor of the south building at the Downtown Main Library. Jacob Hogue is a public historian and author specializing in LGBTQ+ history. He is the author of Cincinnati Before Stonewall: The Untold Queer History of the Queen City and the founder and lead guide of Queen City Queer History Tours. Hogue also serves as the History & Legacies Chair for Cincinnati Pride, and his work has been featured in Ohio Valley History Journal, Queer Kentucky, and the NKY Tribune.
