The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. A mystery about Agatha Christie! The curious, real-life disappearance of Agatha Christie sets the stage for this charming and poignant comedy. In 1926, 37-year-old Agatha Christie vanished for 11 days, then reappeared without explanation. The reasons behind her disappearance remain unknown. A century later, devoted superfan Lucy follows the clues left by Agatha and might finally crack the case. As we follow their parallel timelines and journeys of self-discovery, we experience the thrill of good old-fashioned mystery. New Woman 2026: Juried Exhibition

The Clifton Cultural Arts Center’s Nourse Gallery presents the third edition of New Woman, a juried group exhibition celebrating the work of women artists from Cincinnati and beyond. Named for Elizabeth Nourse, one of the earliest women to gain international recognition as a professional painter, the gallery continues her legacy by highlighting the creativity, innovation, and artistic leadership of women working across media, disciplines, and career stages. As part of the exhibition, one artist will be selected to receive CCAC’s biennial New Woman Fellowship, which includes a solo exhibition and honorarium in the following year. Together, the exhibition and fellowship provide a platform for recognizing, supporting, and elevating the voices of contemporary women artists. Recent Acquisitions - American and European Paintings

Cincinnati Art Galleries invites you to view our upcoming exhibition featuring over 100 American and European paintings from the late nineteenth century to the modern era. The exhibition will open Friday, February 13th, 2026 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Landscapes, cityscapes and marine scenes are presented alongside still lifes and figurative works. Featured artists include Willard Metcalf, Homer Dodge Martin, Henry Ward Ranger, Alexander Wyant, Edward Moran, Frederick Waugh, Emile Gruppe, Louis Ritman and others. This exceptional collection represents a significant cross-section of American painting from the post-Civil War era through the early twentieth century, showcasing multiple artistic movements including Hudson River School influence, Tonalism, American Impressionism, and early modernism. Marine paintings form a particularly strong component, with outstanding examples by Edward Moran, Frederick Judd Waugh, Richard Hayley Lever, and Robert Salmon that capture America's maritime heritage. American Impressionist highlights include Willard Metcalf's winter landscape pastel, Henry Ward Ranger's versatile watercolors, Louis Ritman's figurative works reflecting his Giverny training, and Emile Gruppe's vibrant New England scenes. Tonalist landscapes by Alexander Wyant, Homer Dodge Martin, and John Francis Murphy provide contemplative counterpoint, while European subjects and bronze sculptures round out the exhibition's scope. Works range from intimate cabinet paintings to substantial canvases at various price points, making the exhibition accessible to beginning collectors while offering museum-quality pieces for established connoisseurs. The collection represents acquisitions from prominent private collections across the United States, and sales will continue through April 3rd, 2026. Special Feature– Tamary Kudita: African Victorian and Birds of Paradise

May 3, 2025–April 5, 2026 Gallery 104 Free admission Friends of Photography Tamary Kudita (b. 1994) makes photographs that examine African identity in relation to the social and historical forces that frame individuals’ lives. Kudita lives and works in Zimbabwe, a country formerly colonized by Great Britain. She traces her family heritage to the Shona-speaking people of Zimbabwe and to a nineteenth-century union between a Black South African plantation worker and a Dutch soldier. Mixing cultural signifiers across centuries and continents, Kudita’s portraits make the hybrid nature of African identities visible while giving everyday Zimbabweans their due. This special feature is made possible by the Private Collection of Lesley Goldwasser and Jonathan Plutzik, with thanks to VISU Contemporary art gallery. Accessing the Exhibition This first-floor exhibition has an accessible pathway. Seating is provided within the exhibition gallery. Labels optimized for screen reader are available online.
