Summer Sewing Camp

Make a personalized tote bag and sun hat to help power you through the summer months! You choose whether they are a matching set or each is unique. Sewing patterns will be provided, but students should provide fabric and thread on the first day of class. This is an Advanced Beginner/Intermediate level class. Students should already know how to use a sewing machine. "The instructor will contact you with a supplies list for the first day of class." Sing & Strings (Ukulele) Camp

For those who have always wanted to play the ukulele! Students will learn to play & sing several simple songs, but more importantly, they will obtain the tools necessary to sit down and play for their own enjoyment at any time. Get ready for a short performance on the last day of camp. *Students must provide their own ukulele. *The Lane Library, Oxford, has (12) ukuleles that have been set aside for any camper who would like to check one out for this camp. The following requirements apply: Students checking out instruments must have a library card Parents must sign a liability waiver claiming responsibility for any damage to the instrument Your instructor will need to be responsible for tuning instruments and installing string replacements if they break (they have extra strings that they will supply if this occurs) Students must check out the ukuleles at the Children's Library and will have permission to take them home for practice for the duration of the camp. Drawing Fundamentals Mondays : 6 WEEKS : JULY - AUG

Mondays, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. $90 for non-members per 6-week session $81 for members per 6-week session Classes will focus on developing basic drawing skills from direct observation and lighted still life arrangements. Students will learn how to create the illusion of form through the use of shape, perspective and tonal value. Critiques develop students' abilities to think critically about their own work and maintaining their art journal will allow students to record thoughts, experiment with ideas, media, and practice ideas. Each session lasts for six weeks allowing basic skills to build over time. This program is ideal for beginners, as well as more advanced students. Students are asked to bring their own supplies.
