Beginner Quilting
Presented by Fitton Center for Creative Arts at Fitton Center For Creative Arts Hamilton, OH
Beginner Quilting Ages 18+ Instructor: Cynthia Whitaker $116/members, $136/non-members July 8 – August 12 Wednesdays | 6 – 8pm Explore the basics of quilting in this beginner-friendly class. Students will learn the types of fabrics and tools needed, how to cut and piece together a design, and how to quilt layers. Class will conclude with instruction on binding and finishing to create a complete quilt from start to finish! All supplies (including a sewing machine for use in class) are provided, though students may choose to bring their own machine to use during class if preferred. Intermediate Sewing

Intermediate Sewing Ages 18+ $116/members, $136/non-members Instructor: Sharon Theard Thursdays | 6 – 8pm July 9 – August 13 Take your sewing skills to the next level in this class, which covers essential techniques for creating professional-looking sewing projects. Learn how to work with a sewing pattern, elastic, zipper, patch pocket, fabric edge finishes, machine hemming, and more! Projects will include your choice of elastic-waist pants, shorts, or a skirt, a home decor pillow with a zipper, and a bonus project. This class is designed for intermediate-level sewers who have a basic understanding of sewing machine operation and hand stitching techniques. If you are new to sewing, we recommend taking our Sewing Basics class first. All supplies (including a sewing machine for use in class) are provided, though students may choose to bring their own fabrics to work with as the class progresses. Create sculptures, tiles, vessels, and free-choice projects. Students will have a chance to try the pottery wheel with help from the instructor. Painting and glazing techniques also will be covered. Tween Drawing and Painting 6 WEEKS : JULY - AUG

Ages 10 - 14 Thursdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm $80 for non-members / $72 for members Students will be introduced to the basic process of making pictures that not only “look like what you see” but are fresh and expressive. Students will learn to work with light and shadow, color, and simple perspective. Tweens will use traditional drawing and painting materials. At ArtsConnect, we encourage children to explore their creativity independently to foster confidence and original thinking. While we ask that you sign your child in to class, to help your child gain the most from their class experience we kindly request that parents refrain from staying in the classroom. Kids Yoga : 6 WEEKS : JULY - AUG

Here’s a fun way for kids to stay in shape and improve their balance, strength, and flexibility. Students will learn different poses and relaxation techniques. Students should bring a mat to each class. Blocks and straps are provided. Kids Yoga is taught by Sandy Terry, an experienced yoga instructor. Sandy will share her love of yoga with kids of all ages and abilities. Kids Yoga is offered on Thursdays, from 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. Classes are held at ArtsConnect Springfield Township Arts Center, 9158 Winton Rd, Building A, behind the fire station. Do your kids want to try it out? They can do a drop-in class for $8. They should bring a mat. Edgemont Inn Tavern Re-Enactment
Presented by The Voice of Black Cincinnati at Harriet Beecher Stowe House Cincinnati, OH
Presented in collaboration with The Voice of Black Cincinnati, the event pays tribute to the Edgemont Inn, a historic Green Book-listed tavern and boarding house once operated by Irene Bacon during the segregation era. Housed within the same property that now honors Harriet Beecher Stowe. This re-enactment revives the spirit of a place that once served as a vital refuge for Black travelers and the Walnut Hills community. Event Highlights The event will feature live music by The YOLO Band, who will bring the sounds of the 1940s to life through jazz, swing, and blues. The evening’s guide, storyteller Brandi La’Sherrill, will weave true tales from the Harriet Beecher Stowe House between songs that echo their spirit. Visitors can also enjoy local food vendors, drinks, and retail shopping on the grounds, celebrating both the past and the present through music, storytelling, and community. Admission to the Edgemont Inn Tavern Re-Enactment Admission is Pay What You Can with a $10 suggested donation, and the event is open to adults only. Seating will be provided, though guests are welcome to bring folding chairs without covers, footrests, or attachments. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.
