Beginner Quilting : 6 WEEKS : AUG-OCT
Presented by ArtsConnect at Sew Many Things Cincinnati, OH
Dina will teach the basics of quilting from how to sew using a machine, cut fabric, and plan a patterned design. You will use a sewing machine and learn basic hand stitches. Use state-of-the-art machines and quilting equipment. Please provide your own fabric. Fabric may be purchased at the Sew Many Things studio if desired. Students will make a quilt top using a specific pattern. $130 non-member / $117 member Quilting is a great way to learn to sew. Each session will feature a different theme creating unique quilted works of art. Students are asked to bring various items based on the class project theme. ArtsConnect offers beginning and intermediate quilting classes. Both classes are held offsite at Sew Many Things in Wyoming. ArtsConnect is honored to partner with Dina Jacquemin of Sew Many Things, LLC in Wyoming. She is an accomplished quilter and seamstress. Classes are held at Sew Many Things in downtown Wyoming. You will be using state-of-the-art equipment. Sew Many Things provides an excellent sewing environment with state-of-the-art sewing machines, ironing machines, cutting stations, and much more. *Fabric is available for purchase on location or students may bring their own. ***Sew Many Things is NOT Handicapped Accessible. Kids Sewing: 6 classes : SEPT - OCT

Ages 8 - 13, Mondays, 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. $80 for non-members per 6-week session / $72 for members per 6-week session This class is for kids of all levels. For beginners, students will make simpler projects developing their skills. Those that are more advanced will do appropriate higher-level projects. Projects will be individualized based on each student's level of experience. All supplies are included, yet children are welcome to bring any fabrics they would like to use. Bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours. Class Structure: Kid's Sewing classes are taught in the Cardinal Room of ArtsConnect Community ArtsCenter (the building behind the fire station). No class week of Thanksgiving. All supplies are provided. Classes are held at Springfield Township ArtsConnect, 9158 Winton Rd, Building B ( building is behind the fire station). At ArtsConnect, we encourage children to explore their creativity independently to foster confidence and original thinking. While we ask that you sign your child in to class, to help your child gain the most from their class experience we kindly request that parents refrain from staying in the classroom. Using test tiles as your canvas, you'll experiment with a variety of surface methods, including Mishima, sgraffito, stamp creation, stencils, and the use of slips and underglaze. Students will also gain helpful glazing tips to enhance and finish their work. With guided demonstrations and hands-on exploration, this class encourages experimentation, helping you build a personal library of surface techniques to apply to future projects.

Drawing Fundamentals Mondays: 6 WEEKS : SEPT - OCT

Mondays, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. $90 for non-members per 6-week session $81 for members per 6-week session Classes will focus on developing basic drawing skills from direct observation and lighted still life arrangements. Students will learn how to create the illusion of form through the use of shape, perspective and tonal value. Critiques develop students' abilities to think critically about their own work and maintaining their art journal will allow students to record thoughts, experiment with ideas, media, and practice ideas. Each session lasts for six weeks allowing basic skills to build over time. This program is ideal for beginners, as well as more advanced students. Students are asked to bring their own supplies. Advanced Wheel : 6 WEEKS : SEPT-OCT

Ages 15 & older, 6-week sessions : Monday evening $180 for non-members/ $162 for members All Supplies Included Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. ArtsConnect offers pottery wheel classes for all levels: Intro, Intermediate and Advanced. Start with the Intro and progressively get better! Intro to Wheel, teaches participants the basics of throwing clay on a pottery wheel. Students will learn important pottery studio rules and procedures used in all of our pottery classes. Intro to Wheel class is mandatory for those wanting to buy a pottery studio pass to use the studio during open times. This class will help students refine their centering skills, learn to throw larger items and work on attachments such as handles and lids. Materials Included: 25 lb clay, glaze, firing and use of tools. Intermediate to Wheel is offered twice a week, Monday mornings and Thursday evenings. Once students have mastered the basic skills of the wheel then move to our Advanced Wheel class. The Advanced Wheel class offers more challenging and advanced techniques. Participants must be proficient in centering, have taken Intermediate Wheel or have instructor recommendation. The cost of each pottery class includes all supplies. Supplies provided are: 25 lb white clay, glazes, all the firing needed, and the use of our clay tools. Fundamentals of Picture Framing will introduce you to the world of custom framing. This class will teach you how to pick the perfect frame. Learn how to measure and cut mats, glass, and moulding. You will frame something 11"x14" or smaller in this introductory class. Participants are asked to bring a picture or artwork to frame. Supplies included are practice materials and standard grade matt board, moulding, and glass to make a frame no larger than 11"x14". Students may purchase extra materials from the instructor to frame larger work or pick from custom styles of board and moulding. The instructor will discuss this option during class.
