The Rooftop Sessions: Chandler Carter
Presented by Clifton Cultural Arts Center at Clifton Cultural Arts Center Cincinnati, OH
Chandler has the ability to captivate an audience with just her voice and a guitar. With her names in line-ups next to today’s top artists, she’s Ohio’s next rising star. Keeping it simple and honest, there’s no limitation to what she can do next. Here’s what Chandler said about how she got started: “I discovered I could sing one day while messing around on GarageBand on my sister’s laptop. She was out at the movies and had no idea, but it was my favorite thing to do in middle school! I recorded my first professional song in 2011 as a junior in high school. I got the confidence to do so because I auditioned for The Voice and made it past the first few audition rounds, so it gave me the confidence I needed to give music a go. When I got back from my audition I did my first live show, a benefit concert at my high school and I’ve been on go-mode ever since!” This calendar listing is brought to you by Cincy A&E, the Cincinnati region's one-stop, online calendar for arts and entertainment events, powered by ArtsWave. From One to Another
Presented by concertnova at National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Cincinnati , OH
This immersive walking concert invites audiences to move through the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center alongside a series of musical duos, each guiding listeners from one space to the next. As one musician hands you off to another, the performance unfolds gradually, like a relay of sound and story. Each duo performs music selected in response to the surrounding exhibitions, engaging themes of displacement, coded communication, refuge, resistance, and remembrance. Rooted in the specific histories of Cincinnati and its role as a border city, the program draws meaning from the museum’s position on the banks of the Ohio River, which served as a historic gateway to freedom. In this flowing exchange, the museum becomes both stage and storyteller, with music offering new ways to encounter the histories it holds. Motherhood, the Musical by Sue Fabish
Presented by The Ghostlight Stage Company at CASA at the Essex Studios
Having a baby is just the beginning…motherhood is for life. In the original musical by Sue Fabisch, “Motherhood The Musical,” four women share their insights, challenges and pleasures at a baby shower. In 90 minutes of fun, you’ll get a peek into the powerful friendship of Amy, a soon-to-be first-time mom; Brooke, a hard-working lawyer and mother; Barb, a stressed-out stay-at-home mother of five; and Tina, a single mom seeking to balance work, her family and her divorce. “Motherhood, the Musical,” is a funny, yet loving look at being a mom at any age. But this won't just be a standard theater show weekend! Just like with all of Ghostlight's theatrical events, there will be interactive community components. We are thrilled to partner with Postpartum Cincy, Chamber of Mothers: Cincinnati, Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio, (and others to be announced shortly) to bring free resources for community members all weekend long: from postpartum support, how to plan/prevent pregnancy, reproductive health information and more! Additionally we will host workshops leading up to the show weekend where parents can come with their little ones for artistic adventures and support groups surrounding themes of parenthood, and beyond. This production is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC). The OAC is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically. Family-friendly arts workshops leading up to the performance will be announced later this year, along with dates…
