Presented by Cincinnati Opera at Music Hall Cincinnati, OH
For anyone who’s dreamed of appearing on the Cincinnati Music Hall stage, Cincinnati Opera is ready to give you your moment in the spotlight. No singing skills are required! Supernumerary—or “super”—roles are volunteer non-singing, non-speaking roles, much like extras in film and television. Supers will share the stage with internationally renowned artists and work with celebrated directors and conductors. No experience is necessary, and all super positions are filled on a voluntary basis. Individuals of all ages, races, ethnicities, genders, and abilities are welcome and encouraged to apply. Attending the casting call does not obligate a person to participate. Interested individuals may attend the casting call to simply learn more about supernumerary opportunities. For more information, please email supers@cincinnatiopera.org. We are casting supers for SALOME, CARMEN, and LALOVAVI. Deep Listening® Workshop
Presented by The Well at The Well Cincinnati, OH
Deep Listening® is a sonic awareness practice developed by composer, performer, and humanitarian Pauline Oliveros in the 1970s. It explores the difference between the involuntary nature of hearing and the conscious nature of listening through three modalities: Listening, Bodywork, and Dreamwork. Through body exercises, sonic meditations, interactive performance, and listening to the sounds of daily life, nature, thoughts, imagination, and dreams; It cultivates a heightened awareness of the sonic environment, both external and internal, and promotes experimentation, improvisation, collaboration, playfulness, and other creative skills vital to personal and communal growth. A Deep Listening® workshop is a 3-hour event that provides a thorough introduction or continuation to the practice of Deep Listening® as it was developed Oliveros. The workshop gives both theoretical overviews of the core concepts of Deep Listening® philosophy, as well as hands-on experience with the practices through guided movement, sounding, listening meditations, and dream work. Owen Hopper is a certified Deep Listening® facilitator through The Center for Deep Listening, as well as a composer and improvising musician. He discovered Deep Listening® practices over a decade ago and has been influenced by the powerful outcomes in both his artistic practices and personal life. He leads Deep Listening® Workshops both in-person and online. Free with RSVP.
