Designing Signs Through Time
Presented by American Sign Museum at American Sign Museum Cincinnati, OH
Designing Signs Through Time Saturday, April 18 11 am – 2 pm $65 for ASM members | $80 for non-members Designing signs has changed a lot over the years thanks to the rise of the digital age. No one knows that better than David Butler who started his signpainting career when sketches were done simply with a pencil and yardstick. Join David in the Classroom at the American Sign Museum for a discussion on how he has evolved his practice to incorporate computers and technology while still honoring the tradition of sketching and painting by hand. Participants will then create their own sign sketches by hand with tips and tricks from David. About David Butler: David and his wife Suze run Butler Design Agency in Syracuse, IN where they create signs across different mediums including goldleaf and painted glass. The Butlers were also instrumental in the creation of the ASM’s Main Street display by organizing the projects to paint and detail each storefront in 2012 and 2024. Not only did they oversee these massive projects but also participated in creating some of the storefronts.
