Site Selection Magazine ranks Cincinnati fourth in nation for business expansion

Cincinnati beat out a number of key cities in a list detailing the top purveyors of expanded corporate facilities according to Site Selection magazine. This is Cincinnati’s seventh consecutive year making the top 10.”It is a credit to the region that we continue to receive national recognition for our collective efforts,” said Doug Moormann, vice president of economic development at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. The Site Selection ranking, focused on areas with a population of one million or more, was based on MSA-wide data submitted by the Cincinnati USA Partnership, the economic development initiative directed by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. In 2008, there were 228 businesses in the 3-state, 15-county region that added or retained jobs, added investment or added square footage. The number of projects, new employees and retained employees figures were up in 2008, including a 50 percent increase in retained employees. These increases are in part due to several projects that retained or created significant numbers of employees, including Atrium Medical Center, BAE Systems, Convergys, Humana, The Midland Company, and Ohio Casualty Company.The total economic impact of the 2008 capital investment by these growth businesses is $5.63 billion.
