Choose Your City

Distilled down to their essence, elections are ultimately about winning and losing. But before the outcomes are decided, they are also about choices.

Do I choose to live in a city that nurtures and sustains tremendous cultural assets?

Do I choose a city that fosters and grows new ideas, supports and retains creativity and talent, and keeps its focus on moving forward?

Do I have the common sense to choose elected officials I trust to make good decisions on my behalf?

And what kind of city do I choose to live in?  This language didn’t make the ballot but perhaps its the only real issue in there, mired underneath all that fancy ballot language. So is it the city that prompts outdated Mark Twain jabs, or is it the city that we’ve written hundreds of thousands of words about – the one most of our readers live in – a progressive city on the cusp of something really, genuinely great?

Make no mistake: progressive cities don’t just ‘happen.’ The wheels that drive the bus are not only the annual civic and corporate investment in talent and communities, but the singular investment we can all make, or have made today – simply by making your one vote count.

Cincinnati is at a crossroads – ideas and plans that have simmered for years on the back burner are finally coalescing into reality right in front of our very eyes.  The stuff some people only dreamed about is actually within reach. And while a progressive city still needs visionaries, it also needs progressive citizens who, though wonderfully diverse in their opinions, are united and determined with a sense of purpose, and always with one eye on the future. 

Making progress all starts with choices.
