Cincinnati Public Schools serve as model for eliminating racial graduation gap

Cincinnati Public Schools have been able to make significant gains in eliminating the racial graduation gap in its high schools.  As a result, other urban public school districts are looking to CPS for lessons they can apply. CPS has recently grown its overall graduation rate from 51 percent in 2000 to 79 percent in 2007.  And during that time the school district has eliminated the graduation gap between white and black students that so often plagues urban public school districts.  This progress makes Cincinnati one of the first major urban districts in American to eliminate this gap.
