Retrospective
August 29
Come get an up close look into the neighborhood you call home or 51 others you may never step foot in. This weekend Tyra Oldham will unveil her exhibit, Cincinnati in Black and White With Voices, A 35 MM Retrospective, which brings the history and residents of 52 Cincinnati communities to life. Oldham was a recipient of the 2007-09 City of Cincinnati Individual Artist Grant and with that money she captured the nooks and crannies of this vast city. Get to the Base Cooperative Gallery by 6 pm as Oldham hosts a community dialogue to discuss what she learned and experienced through this project. Exhibit runs through Sept. 21.

Family Tradition
August 29
Everyone knows Tonight Show Band Leader Kevin Eubanks, he’s been with Jay since the beginning, but did you know he has a brother just as musically talented? Robin Eubanks, a world-class trombonist, will pass thru Cincinnati on his way to the Detroit Jazz Festival this Friday, and we’re lucky enough to get a performance. You can’t miss Eubanks and his trio, EB3, at The Blue Wisp Jazz Club, for one night only. Tickets are $15 and the show starts at 8:30. For reservations, call 513-241-WISP

Out with a Bang
August 31
August may be coming to an end Sunday, but it’s doing it in style. Sawyer Point will host a jam-packed day of events for Riverfest, hosted by Clear Channel. It’s a family-friendly day of music, food, live entertainment, and activities for all ages. And don’t forget to go online early and purchase your little rubber ducky for the chance to win big in the 14th Annual Rubber Duck Regatta; all proceeds go to the Freestore Foodbank . Then top your night and the month off with the infamous Toyota/WEBN Fireworks.  Explosions start at 9:05 pm and synchronize for 30 minutes to a soundtrack which you can listen to on 102.7 WEBN-FM. It’s going to be one amazing display so get there early and get your seat to say “so long” to summer!
