Video ARTeries

Imagine a series of public art ‘links’ that run the length of 12th Street in Over-the-Rhine’s arts district. That’s just what ARTeries proposes to do by using public art to link the new Washington Park, arts venues, and cultural clusters on Vine and Main Streets.

People in our community have long valued the contributions of our arts – the music, dance, museums, and galleries – in making our neighborhoods exciting and vibrant, and in bringing residents together to share ideas. Now our history of investing in the arts can be leveraged at a critical moment – as we build a streetcar, open a new park, enhance and extend business-led investment in Over-the-Rhine, and develop a naturally burgeoning arts district in the same area. In 2012, OTR will be home to both the World Choir Games and the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Hundreds of thousands of people will visit and press coverage will be worldwide. This will be the perfect moment to show the world that this is a beautiful, historic, and highly desirable part of our community, made all the more vibrant through the arts. ARTeries-Cincinnati proposes to do this.

In this video, partners and advisors to ARTeries-Cincinnati describe their plans to infuse art into the 12th Street corridor, linking the new Washington Park, arts venues, and cultural clusters on Vine and Main Streets. This video, a partnership between ArtsWave, Seven/Seventy-Nine and Soapbox, is a small part of a larger proposal that will be submitted to the National Endowment for the Arts to fund ARTeries this week.
