Empower MediaMarketing creates Shark Week promotion

Cincinnati-based Empower MediaMarketing had a creative hand in engaging viewers in the Discovery Channel’s popular Shark Week series.


The annual Shark Week series, which runs Aug. 2 through Aug. 31, highlights all things shark through a series of six docu-dramas designed to both entertain and educate. The DiscoveryChannel.com Shark Week site follows that same route. Shark Week had about 29 million viewers last year.


The site is a collaboration of Discovery and Long John Silver's which is advertising its Baja Fish tacos on the site. The concept and creative support for the promotion was created for Long John Silver's by Empower MediaMarketing. 


It features several interactive games including a shark quiz and Sharkrunners, where users can follow shark movements in real time in the Great Barrier Reef.  It also includes shark related news, videos from the series last 22 years, a blog and downloadable podcast.
