In an effort to "create a Cincinnati festival as unique and progressive a its home neighborhood," the OTR Gateway Merchant Group has organized the first of what will hopefully become an annual celebration.
The
OTR/Gateway Summer Celebration will take place this Saturday, June 20 and go from 10am to 7pm. The event will take place in the heart of the Gateway Quarter at 12th and Vine streets in historic Over-the-Rhine.
The day's activities will start with the annual
Go OTR 5k at 10am. The 5k is a celebration of the exciting changes that are taking place throughout Over-the-Rhine. The 3.1 mile course begins at 12th and Vine streets and winds throughout the historic neighborhood.
Money raised from the 5k goes to support the Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce. Pre-registration is $12 and $20 day of the race. Participants can
pre-register until noon on Friday, June 19.
Everyone who participates in the Go OTR 5k will receive a t-shirt and be treated to an after-party sponsored by Christian Moerlein where the custom Rookwood Pottery designed awards will be given out.
Throughout the rest of the day event-goers will be treated to live music from a slew of bands, arts and crafts from dozens of local merchants, food from nearby establishments and beer from Christian Moerlein.
Those enjoying the festivities will also be able to see first-hand, the transformations taking place throughout Over-the-Rhine. The Gateway Quarter businesses and residential sales office will be open so that those new to the neighborhood can learn a little more about the community.
The OTR/Gateway Summer Celebration is still looking for volunteers to help throughout the event. Those interested can email Outside owner Terry D. Lee at
[email protected]. For more information about the OTR/Gateway Summer Celebration go to the
event page on Facebook and RSVP.
