Cincinnati artist walks 470 miles just to prove that she can do it

After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes five years ago, artist Krista Sheneman was told that she wouldn’t be able to walk long distances anymore.

Instead of taking that advice, she saw it as a challenge she needed to overcome.

Walking has always been a coping mechanism for Sheneman, so she was determined to walk in spite of her illness.

As an artist, Krista said in a statement, that she wanted to explore what "home" stands for by staying with various friends, family and strangers on this journey.

“So,” Sheneman says, “this is like a performance piece that I am incorporating health into.”
