Kelley Andersen of Booth FX Photo Booth Company

How did you start your business?
We began by designing and experimenting with different ways to create a unique photo booth experience. We have a studio in our home and began with inviting friends over to have fun with it. Through this, we were able to create a solid foundation for how our booth would operate.

How did you come up the idea for your business?
We are two creatives who have a passion for photography and digital media. We wanted to harness our love of capturing special moments while creating a unique experience for others.

We looked into buying a photo booth and realized that none of them had the featured that we truly wanted. After many months, we came up with a unique design for the booth and, with the help from a professional craftsman, the booth was built. We also solidified a way for people to have fun with the photos with our easy to apply photo filter and instant online uploading. It’s basically like Instagram and a photo booth had a baby.

What resources here did you take advantage of and how did they help?
It’s always inspiring to read about the local artists and businesses in the Cincinnati area. You hit bumps when starting up your own company, and it’s great to have a resource to help you push through and inspire you to keep on.

What does a typical day in your business look like?
Most days, we are meeting with potential clients, editing pictures or getting ready for events. On the day of an event, we’re double-checking all equipment, making sure any extra props or backgrounds are available if needed. We arrive at an event about 40 minutes prior to set up, work the event and break down once the event ends.

What’s next for you and your company?
We would really love to grow with the event scene of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. We eventually we plan to offer video features as well.
