Wussy has three four-star album reviews from RollingStone and is currently planning a US and UK tour to build on their already growing momentum. At SXSW, some of the industry's biggest names came to check out their shows and they even booked a live studio sessions for the well-known indie radio station KEXP, out of Seattle.
Can you describe your time at SXSW in five words? I'm not good at brevity, can we come back to this?
What's your best moment so far? Wussy got to play at Lance Armstrong's bike shop. We did a live recording for KEXP, and when we walked in we all wondered why there were so many pictures of Lance, then we found out it was his store.
Any big takeaway you'll bring back to Cincinnati? Spiritual or physical? (laughs) The fact that we are no big deal and we're fine with that. When you're at SXSW, you're just one of everybody. It's the great equalizer. It's like death. Can that be my five words? SXSW is like death, but in a good way.
Anything unexpected happen? We've been working nonstop so let me replay the last few days in my head, it's all kind of meshed together. I would say it would be traveling with the Sundresses and Oh My Me. They're awesome and we've had a great time having locals with us down in Austin. It's like a big extended family, like the Clampetts.
Plans for next year? Coming back down, I hope. I love it down here. Our upcoming plans are to do a US and UK tour so hopefully we'll gain some momentum and be back here.
5 words again? Hipster Mardi Gras. I think it was Stuart from the Lions Rampant who said that first, but it's exactly what it is like down here.
