The Insider: Joey Cook, The Pomegranates

This was the Pomegranates third trip to SXSW. They have created records which have charted on RollingStone's College Radio Charts and been reviewed in FILTER Magazine.

Can you describe your time at SXSW in five words? Rushed, Stressful, Fun, Hot, Fun. We had a lot of fun.

What's your best moment so far? We did a showcase at the label we are going to be working with. We are going to be doing our new album with them, so it was good to meet with them and see the other bands on the label that we are now going to be family with.

Anything unexpected happen? Our friend Jen who does this thing Band Mom, we ran in to her last night. She's from New York, and I didn't expect to see her at all. You see a lot of people at SXSW, even from Cincinnati.

Any big takeaway you'll bring back to Cincinnati? We're learning new levels of professionalism as a band. Muscling through any adverse conditions, be it stage or sound. Just muscling through and grinning the whole time while playing our best.

Plans for next year? Just to see what happens. We're going to work to put this new record out in June and then come back down here and play again.
