How long have you lived in Cincinnati?
Most of my life.
What's your day job?
I am a consultant, writer, radio show host, student and so much more.
What work or projects do you tackle after the workday ends?
Motherhood (primarily) but also I strive to be a humble humanitarian.
Where are your favorite places to hang out in the city?
This city is my playground; there are too many places to list but here are a few: Fountain Square, MOTR Pub, Iris Cafe, the CAC...
What's the biggest challenge you've faced here?
Being different in a society that often teaches you to be "the same." Secondly, the challenge of always knowing your value. Lastly, it is OK to agree to disagree.
What's the biggest opportunity?
Living in a city that has far more than its size may indicate. We have some of the best arts, business, community and education institutions in the world.
What could be done to improve opportunities for young African Americans in Cincinnati?
First, and foremost, establishing a sense of inclusion within our community. Let's begin by including more Black History when we teach American History and let's teach all history 365 days a year. The contributions of African Americans (as well as others) are both significant and magnificent. It would also be amazing to see more positive images reflected in the media.
